NVIDIA unleashes GeForce GTX 690 graphics card, loads it with dual Kepler GPUs, charges $1k
Would you look at that? NVIDIA hinted it would be coming today, and it looks like the tease is living up to the hype. The company stormed into the weekend at its Shanghai Game Festival by unleashing its latest offering, the GeForce GTX 690 -- and oh yeah, it's packing two 28nm Kepler GPUs! Trumping the recently released GTX 680 as the "worlds fastest graphics card," it's loaded with a whopping 3,072 Cuda cores. The outer frame is made from trivalent chromium-plated aluminum, while you'll find thixomolded magnesium alloy around the fan for vibration reduction and added cooling. Aiding in cooling even further, the unit also sports a dual vapor chamber and center-mounted fan. It'll cost you a spendy $1,000 to pick up one these puppies come May 3rd, and you'll likely be tempted to double up -- two can run together in SLI as an effective quad-core card. With that said, NVIDIA claims that a single 690 runs 4dB quieter and handles about twice the framerate as a duo of GTX 680s in SLI -- impressive, but we'll reserve judgement until we see it for ourselves. check out the press release after the break if you'd like more information in the meantime (...and yes, it runs Crysis -- 2 Ultra to be exact -- at 57.8fps, according to NVIDIA).

Katie Price: Engaged to Leandro Penna!
Leandro Penna is set to marry Katie Price.
The voluptuous UK model, who only recently got divorced from Alex Reid, after getting divorced by Peter Andre not long before that, showed off her huge, sparkly, pink, heart-shaped diamond engagement ring this week.
Last night, she tweeted: "Wooo hooo so excited." Woo.
Katie's spokesman confirmed the engagement, telling The Sun: "It's true, they are engaged. Leandro proposed to Katie while they were away skiing recently and she said yes. They told her children but intended to keep it secret for a while."
"They are both very happy. No wedding arrangements have been made and they are both relaxed about that for the time being."
Katie Price and Leandro Penna, a model from Argentina, first met at Elton John's Oscars party last year. The mother of three has certainly been through a roller coaster in the romance department. Let's hope the third time's the charm?

Teresa Giudice to Real Housewives of New Jersey Castmates: Sorry!!!
You know what they say about apologies: they aren't sincere unless you make six figures off publishing them in a supermarket tabloid.
Teresa Giudice has taken this saying to heart and penned an open letter to her Real Housewives of New Jersey castmates. It's included in the latest issue of In Touch Weekly and, in addressing Jacqueline, Melissa, Kathy and Caroline, it reads:
"I wish I could take it all back and start over."
On last Sunday's season four premiere - which drew record ratings for Bravo - Giudice dissed and also dismissed Gorga, her sister-in-law, saying she'd leave husband Joe in a heartbeat for a richer man.
Melissa lashed out in response, saying she was hurt by Teresa's comments and they simply aren't valid.
Meanwhile, Giudice is also engaged in a few with Jacqueline, to whom she writes:
"Dear Jacqueline, I wish we could have resolved things sooner because I’m sincerely sorry for upsetting you - and I’m sorry I didn’t respond to your apology on Twitter. I feel like things have gotten out of hand, which is sad. I miss our friendship. I miss being like Lucy and Ethel with you. And so I hope we can work through these problems one day, when you are ready. Teresa xoxo"
Should the ladies accept Teresa's apology? They just need to pick up the In Touch and decide whether or not they buy it. That's how friendship typically works, right?

The VA's Palo Alto Health Care System ... - Health and Fitness
When Marines leave the Corps, they are encouraged to enroll with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
But many don?t. The VA and Department of Defense are two distinct, sprawling federal bureaucracies ? with their own staffs, cultures and record-keeping. No system exists to automatically enroll members of the military in the VA once they leave active duty, which means that scores of military veterans aren?t accessing the services they need and are entitled to.
On Saturday, nearly 800 Marines spent the day at the VA?s Palo Alto Health Care System as part of an effort to welcome Marines with open arms ? and get them in the door. The daylong event, which featured health screenings, dozens of community organizations and a family-friendly barbecue, was organized for Marines who live within a 150-mile radius of the Palo Alto facility. The Marine Corps paid the Marines a day?s wages ? about $210 ? for attending.
?A lot of Marines don?t realize the benefits of the VA,? said Lt. Col. Alex Waugh, who helped organize the event. ?When guys are leaving active duty, the focus is on getting out and what are they going to do next. It?s a real challenge to get them enrolled.?
Marines typically enlist for six years ? four years of active duty followed by two years of ?inactive ready reserve.? The vast majority of the Marines who attended Saturday?s event are on inactive reserve, and many have recently returned from tours of duty in Iraq or
Afghanistan.
While Vietnam was largely fought in rural jungles and on foot, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been marked by roadside bombs known as IEDs, or improvised explosive devices. Bomb blasts often lead to traumatic brain injury.
The VA?s Palo Alto facility is the largest VA hospital in Northern California, consisting of three inpatient facilities in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Livermore and seven outpatient clinics from Monterey to San Jose to Sonora. The facility is home to several state-of-the-art treatment centers, including a Spinal Cord Injury Center, a Traumatic Brain Injury Center, a Homeless Veterans Rehabilitation Program and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The VA has seen a 35 percent increase in the number of veterans receiving mental health services since 2007. Earlier this week, the Department of Veterans Affairs said it would increase its staff of mental health workers by roughly 1,900 to better meet the needs of returning veterans. But veterans can only access the help if they take the initiative.
?Right now people don?t understand that veterans have to come to us,? said Kerri Childress, director of communications for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. ?We can?t make them come to us.?
On Saturday, the first Marines, including many who had driven from the Central Valley, started arriving at 6:30 a.m. By 10 a.m., more than 300 had been enrolled in the VA health care system.
Ian Tong, the medical director for veterans outreach, saw about 10 veteran Marines on Saturday.
?About half of the Marines that I saw today have PTSD,? Tong said. ?I talked to one man whose father had videotaped him having an episode.?
PTSD is often associated with combat veterans, but the disorder can affect anyone who has experienced trauma, from rape and sexual assault to a car crash, fire or horrific event such as the Sept. 11 attacks or Hurricane Katrina.
Mental health experts say most trauma survivors slowly return to normal over time. But some sufferers constantly relive the horror of their experience, with symptoms so severe it?s difficult to interact socially, maintain relationships or hang onto a job.
Seeking help, though, isn?t always easy. While soldiers who lose limbs don?t think twice about getting fit for prosthetics, many see a stigma in reaching out for mental-health treatment. Others downplay or lie about their mental trauma when their units are about to return home because they are eager to see their families and don?t want their homecoming delayed by a medical or psychiatric hold.
Tyson Pickard, 25, served in Afghanistan and now lives in Merced. An IED hit the truck he was in, so he?s currently getting disability from the VA for traumatic brain injury. He usually goes to an outpatient center in Merced, but says the VA hospitals are far better.
?When you get to an actual VA hospital, the sky?s the limit,? Pickard said. ?They?ll help you get what you need. A lot of people are stubborn and don?t want to ask for help, but all you have to do is ask. I?m a satisfied customer.?

Is A 'Game of Thrones' Romance In The Air?
'I'd hope for them to live happily ever after, but it's 'Game of Thrones,' right?' Richard Madden says of Robb Stark's romantic interest, Talisa.

Another week, another gripping, wholly enjoyable episode of HBO's hit "Game of Thrones." Forgetting for a moment the frustrating continued existence of one Joffrey Baratheon and all the rather gruesome scenes in Sunday's episode entitled "Garden of Bones," let's take a moment to appreciate one easy-to-watch scene: the meet-cute between would-be King Robb Stark and feisty nurse Talisa (Oona Chaplin).
In the midst of all the blood, battles and complicated politics, might there be room for a real romance between two characters? MTV News was lucky enough to sit down with Robb Stark himself, Richard Madden, to get the scoop on this intriguing new story line.
"Robb's in a place where it's the first time he's met a woman, it's the first time he's had his head turned. It's the first time he's been in this position as this boy-king and the first time someone doesn't bow down to him, doesn't treat him like a king, doesn't cater to all that," Madden explained of his character's interest in Talisa. "She asks him real questions, she challenges everything and makes him ask questions of himself, he's kind of blown away by that, this kind of light in the darkness. He's surrounded by all these men and by all this violence and hate and blood, and he's got this woman there who kind of looks him in the eye and talks to him in a way he's not used to and he can't help but be intrigued by that. I think in the beginning he doesn't even know his head's been turned until we're right into it."
So now we know there will at least be major head-turning, but no telling how long that will last in the twisted and dangerous world of "Thrones." When asked for his thoughts on Robb and Talisa's future as a couple, the Scot wasn't at liberty to divulge gritty details, but did mention a hope for happily ever after, however unlikely that may be.
"I'd hope for them to live happily ever after, but it's 'Game of Thrones,' right? That doesn't really happen often with anyone," Madden said with a smile.
"We're going to see a lot of changes with Robb's character this year and this woman is the first big influence that takes him away from following his head. Usually his heart and his head are on the same page when it comes to decision-making and this woman takes him in a different direction and influences over the decisions that he makes and sets things on a different course with his mother as well. That's a huge kind of fracture between them," he continued. "So I'm keen to see how that plays out onscreen."
Do you think "Game of Thrones" is going to get romantic? Let us know in the comments!
